The recent GITEX conference in Dubai presented another DarkMatter Group milestone as we unveiled our latest partnership with Smart Dubai and the Telecommunications Regulation Authority (TRA). Together we have now inaugurated UAE PASS, a National Digital Identity and Signature solution for all citizens and residents.
Our work on UAE PASS has been in development for some time and we have been working closely with the teams under Her Excellency Dr Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr, Director General of Smart Dubai, and H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) on the delivery programme. It was a landmark moment for us to be able to share the success with everyone who have been working on its implementation behind the scenes. Additionally, Abu Dhabi Smart Services and Solutions Authority (ADSSSA) joined the initiative and announced its intention to adopt the UAE PASS as a micro service to identify and authenticate users across their digital journeys.
UAE PASS is the most advanced national identity platform, from the perspective of the technology used and the features it provides to users and service providers alike. It is a major leap in the digital advancement of the UAE, from both technology and regulatory viewpoints. UAE PASS demonstrates the capability of DarkMatter Group to some of our target sectors across the region, including government agencies. The platform provides a single digital identity to users that is recognised by local and federal government entities, in addition to other service providers. All with compliance to globally recognised standards.
The solution introduces easy enrolment steps to users, and mobile-based (out-of-band) authentication by simply validating their identity on their smartphone. It also allows users to digitally sign and validate documents, to minimise their visits to service centres to sign important and time-sensitive documents. The solution aims to improve user experience by simplifying the digital identity management to be convenient and intuitive for the users as they receive government services, digitally.
The basic registration for UAE PASS can be done in 3 simple steps:

This collaboration aligns with the UAE’s directive to launch and implement national level projects that contribute to achieving the goals of UAE Centennial 2071, UAE Vision 2021, and future sustainable development. It is also a foundational block to realising Dubai’s Paperless and Blockchain Strategies, in addition to accelerating wider digital transformation across the UAE and beyond to meet international interoperability and standards.
